A Private Visit to the Avery Library Archive

About the Event:
Step Inside One of the World’s Greatest Architectural Archives with this ADSNY Members Exclusive event.
Kick off World Art Deco Month with an unforgettable, behind-the-scenes experience at the legendary Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library at Columbia University—the largest architectural library in North America.
For one special afternoon, ADSNY members will enjoy rare access to Avery’s extraordinary Drawings & Archives. Curator Shelley Hayreh will personally present a curated selection of stunning materials that bring the story of American Art Deco architecture to life.
You’ll have the rare chance to see original architectural drawings, renderings, and historic photographs from the archives of some of the most influential designers of the Art Deco era, including:
-
Emery Roth
-
Harvey Wiley Corbett
-
Raymond Hood
-
Hugh Ferriss
These remarkable works are part of Avery’s Drawings & Archives—one of the most important architectural collections in the world. With more than 500 archives documenting architecture and design, the collection preserves the creative legacy of architects, firms, interior designers, preservationists, photographers, historians, and educators, with a particularly rich focus on New York and American architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries.
This is not a public exhibition.
These materials are rarely seen outside the archives.
And this intimate experience is reserved exclusively for ADSNY members.
Space is extremely limited and will fill quickly.
Secure your place now and don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encounter Art Deco history up close.
