About the Program:

Join us for an illustrated lecture about the influence of the 1925 Paris Exposition in the United States. The lecture, which will be presented by Marilyn F. Friedman, will explore the ways in which the concepts seen at the Exposition were presented to the American public, including shows at museums, department stores and designers’ organizations. She will also discuss how designers such as Donald Deskey, Eugene Schoen, Kem Weber, Eleanor Le Maire and Joseph Urban adopted and adapted the design that today we call Art Deco. This recorded Video Event includes the original PowerPoint––with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device.

About the Speaker: 

Marilyn Friedman is a design historian who has lectured widely on twentieth century interiors and decorative arts. She is the author of Selling Good Design: Promoting the Early Modern Interior, Making America Modern: Interior Design in the 1930s, and several journal articles.
