Celebrating 100 Years of Art Deco with Curators from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs Paris

About the Event:

The Art Deco Society of New York is delighted to present "Celebrating 100 Years of Art Deco with Curators from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs Paris," a special invitational event for ADSNY's Golden Circle members and supporters.

In honor of this year's Art Deco Centennial, ADSNY, in conjunction with Cultural Services of the French Embassy, is hosting this exclusive conversation with the visiting Director of Paris's Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Bénédicte Gady, and Anne Monier, curator.

They will revisit the groundbreaking 1925 Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes and present a preview of the major exhibition curated by Gady and Monier, opening at the Musée this fall, prior to the October Paris World Congress on Art Deco.

This lively illustrated conversation will be led by Jared Goss, author of French Art Deco.  Formerly an Associate Curator in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and a member of ADSNY's Board of Directors, Goss lectures internationally, has taught at several American academic institutions, and is a frequent contributor of essays and articles to scholarly publications.

A wine reception will follow their presentation, where invitees will have the opportunity to meet the speakers.

Villa Albertine, the former Fifth Avenue Payne Whitney Mansion designed by Stanford White is the perfect setting for this event co-presented with French Cultural Services.
