Rye Playland Private Tour

About the Event:

Join ADSNY as we take a private tour of the recently completed $135 million restoration of the only Art Deco amusement park in America on the National Register of Historic Places. Our tour will be led by Barbara Davis, Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society, who has been involved in every stage of this multi-year restoration.

The registration fee includes our private tour and admission to Rye Playland along with one ride ticket. This tour is a members only event.

After the guided tour, attendees who want to stay longer, can spend the rest of the day enjoying the restaurants and the other amenities there on their own.

Note that attendees will travel to Rye Playland on their own and meet at the entrance to Rye Playland, which can be reached via Metro North, car/taxi or Uber. If you choose Metro North, we recommend taking the 10:05AM train on the New Haven line, departing Grand Central and arriving at Rye at 10:54AM. From the Rye Metro North station, you can take a short taxi/uber or bus to Rye Playland.  ADSNY is not responsible for your transit to and from Rye Playland.

About the Presenter:

Barbara Davis is the Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society and the City Historian of New Rochelle. Since 1993 she has served on the Westchester County Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, which advises on all county-owned historically significant properties. Barbara’s career has included positions in libraries, schools, colleges, and museums. She is a writer and producer of educational exhibits and films and has conducted numerous history tours—by walking, bus, boat, kayak, and bicycle. As a child growing up in Northern Westchester, her biggest summer thrill was competing in the County swim competitions at Playland.
