Shore to Shore: Canyons of Wall Street
About the Program
Join architectural historian Matt Postal for a meandering exploration of the fabled financial neighborhood, highlighting Jazz Age towers once associated with the American Sugar Refining Company, the Downtown Athletic Club, and the Irving Trust Company. View major Art Deco landmarks by architects Ralph Walker, Ely Jacques Kahn, and Starrett & Van Vleck, and learn how these handsomely-appointed buildings are finding new uses in the 21st century.
For those who wish to extend their summer afternoon into evening, join us as we ferry from Wall Street across the East River to dine alfresco at the outdoor terrace beside the famed Pepsi Cola sign at Maiella, a lovely restaurant located in the picturesque waterfront section of Long Island City offering spectacular views. After dinner, ADSNY members will take in the city lights as we ferry back to Manhattan.
Dinner at Maiella, famed for its excellent cuisine and those breathtaking views, followed by a ferry ride back to Manhattan, was a highlight of our 2023 Autumn in New York weekend. We are delighted to invite all members to enjoy this special event. Please note: Dinner and the ferry tickets are optional and are not included in the price of the tour. Dinner is à la carte and space is limited. Therefore, if you would like to take advantage of the full shore to shore experience you must make a reservation at events@artdeco.org indicating such.
