Art Deco London:

The Glitz and Glamour of the Roaring 20s

About the Program:

The Art Deco Society of New York’s series of web-based illustrated talks inspired by our Destination Deco program continues with an exciting virtual “visit” to Jazz Age London with historian and author, Lucy Jane Santos, Chair of the Art Deco Society UK.

In her richly illustrated talk, we'll explore London in the 1920s and 1930s including iconic Art Deco landmarks such as the Daily Express Building, Senate House and the factories that made up the Golden Mile. Lucy will focus on the unique style of Art Deco London with special emphasis on the rich Deco design and ornamentation of hotels, cinemas, and the city's vibrant nightlife that made the capital such an exciting place for the British and for visitors from around the world during the interwar years.

Can't join us at the time of the live Zoom event ? No problem! Those who register will receive a recording of the entire program a few days after the live presentation. When you sign up for the program you have the opportunity to watch, or rewatch, the recording at a time more convenient for you.
