Telling the Art Deco Story of The Bronx
About the Program:
Art Deco blossomed in The Bronx during the 1920s and 1930s, transforming each and every neighborhood. From the legendary Grand Concourse to Orchard Beach, architectural historian Matt Postal will celebrate Jazz Age gems throughout New York City’s northernmost borough.
While attention will certainly be paid to the splendid “Fish Building” and Paul Manship’s Rainey Memorial Gates, he’ll also cast an eye on magnificently-decorated apartment lobbies, playful humanist sculptures at Parkchester, and various public initiatives sponsored by the Works Projects Administration.
