About the Program:

On this immersive trip, we will explore how the uniquely glamorous culture of Los Angeles — with its Golden Age of Hollywood — led to the creation of the city’s beautiful Art Deco structures through first-hand glimpses into the breadth and variety of the Deco adaptations unique to California’s architecture and design heritage.

While this trip is available as a five-day package (click here), we are also offering the opportunity to sign up for three single-day immersion packages — Tuesday, May 9th, Wednesday, May 10th, and Thursday, May 11th — as well as an exciting two-night Weekend on the Queen Mary

On this, Wednesday’s immersion, we’ll begin our journey back to the Golden Era of Hollywood from our 1927 hotel — the Hollywood Roosevelt — with a private walking tour of Hollywood Boulevard, guided by Art Deco author and past president of the Art Deco Society of Los Angles, John Thomas. Stops will include private, exclusive visits to the famed Pantages Theater; visits to the Max Factor and Kress Buildings, as well as the 1937 Art Deco post office designed by Claud Beelman; and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, before a group lunch at Mel’s Drive-In.

Afterward, we’ll meet our motor coach for the short ride to a private interior tour of the Wilshire Temple, with its spectacular Art Deco sanctuary, before setting out for what’s sure to be a highlight of our day, a private tour of the former Bullocks Wilshire luxury Art Deco department store, with its stunning interiors by designer Jock Peters, now the home of Southwestern Law School.

From there we will journey to the famed Hollywood Bowl for a private guided tour of the grounds and bandshell with the director of the Hollywood Heritage Museum. Attendees will have the option of dining and attending a concert under the stars with Italian superstar Andrea Bocelli, or returning back to our hotel for a classic Hollywood evening at the haunts of celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, and other icons of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
