About the Event:

Join ADSNY for a seasonal holiday celebration, as Andrew Garn and Eric P. Nash lead us on a virtual exploration of New York’s architectural splendor through a whole new lens.

Although Art Deco is often associated with the achievements of the Machine Age — skyscrapers, ocean lines, zeppelins — Garn and Nash reveal how the beautiful natural motifs of Art Deco, drawn from such classical subjects as peacocks, flowers, fountains, and fish, served to soften the era’s hard edges with their sparkling and seductive imagery.

Garn and Nash will share with us both famous and lesser-known decorative stunners from their new book, New York Art Deco: Birds, Beasts & Blooms, which demonstrate the gentler, more organic side of Art Deco ornamentation. Highlights of this one-of-a-kind web-based program will include:

  •  A special tour of the Chrysler building’s motifs

  •  A new perspective on the Empire State Building

  • Stunning interior images of the Fred F. French Building

  •  A seldom seen insider’s view of a beautiful apartment house in Brooklyn Heights
  •  Lesser known stunners along the Grand Concourse in the Bronx

and so much more!

Additionally, all registrants will receive a special 15% ADSNY discount code from Rizzoli to purchase the book — which would make a wonderful holiday gift!

This unique online illustrated talk is sure to fill quickly. Claim your spot today!

Even though this event is online, it will include a live PowerPoint — with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device — as well as a Q&A session with participants.

Can't join us at the time of the live event? No problem! Those who register will receive a recording of the entire program a few days after the live presentation. When you sign up for the program you have the opportunity to watch, or rewatch, the recording at a time more convenient for your schedule.
