Harlem’s Jazz Age: The Syncopated Rhythm of Outsiders Video Event
About the Program:
There is perhaps nothing more stimulating to the imagination of prohibition era life amidst New York City’s towering Art Deco architecture than the jazz music of its period! Sign up today to join scholar and jazz expert, John T. Reddick, for this engaging online program that offers an illuminating look at music of the Jazz Age.
In this recorded video presentation—which you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home at a time that best fits your schedule—we meet the premiere orchestrators of that music who grew-up in Harlem and were nurtured by the community’s ragtime era Black and Jewish talents. It was their outsider’s view that helped them to craft the rhythms, themes, and empathy that resulted in a uniquely American musical identity.
You won't want to miss this deep dive into one of the Jazz Age's most vivacious hotspots!
This recorded video event includes the original PowerPoint—with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device.
