About the Program:

Join ADSNY and Bronx historian and expert, Sam Goodman, as he leads us on a summer stroll along the Champs-Élysées of The Bronx, the famed Grand Concourse. Together, we will discover the many spectacular Art Deco treasures that define the development of this special boulevard.

Highlights of the afternoon will include visits to numerous Art Deco delights, including Emory Roth’s only Bronx apartment house and the famous Fish Building. We will also take a short detour to Jerome Avenue, just across from Yankee Stadium, to see two of the neighborhood’s most outstanding buildings, 1001 Jerome Avenue and the Park Plaza Apartments with it's colorful terracotta details.

Goodman will offer the inside scoop of why this community developed as it did and why it is considered so unique.

Cleaned and sanitized audio assistance devices will be provided for all attendees.

About the Guide:

Sam Goodman is an urban planner for the Bronx Borough President's office and an expert on the history of the Bronx. He has worked as a city planner in the Bronx since 1993, assisting the city in creating solutions to the borough's infrastructure challenges.
