In this recorded video presentation––which you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home at a time that best fits your schedule––explore rarely-seen photographs that document the day-by-day building of this architectural masterpiece. We also see extraordinary close-up scenes of New York in the 1920s and 30s.
Using amazing period photographs, author David Stravitz gives us a sense of being transported back in time 90 years, as one of the world's greatest cities expanded towards the sky. The video event includes rare images of buildings, street scenes, storefronts, people, and signage that span before, during, and after the Great Depression. We also learn the fascinating story of how Stravitz’s deep interest in photography led to his discovery of this treasure trove of photographs.

About the Speaker:
David Stravitz is an author, photographer, inventor, and industrial designer who has developed a wide variety of consumer products with close to 200 patents. His deep interest in photography led to his discovery of 500 8×10 negatives of early twentieth century New York, including more than 150 images of the day-by-day construction of the Chrysler Building. He has authored two books resulting from this discovery: The Chrysler Building, Creating an Icon Day by Day and New York, Empire City 1920-1945.
