About the Program:

Join ADSNY and The Wolfsonian–FIU curator Shoshana Resnikoff, for this exclusive online tour of Art Deco treasures within the museum's celebrated collection. Drawn from The Wolfsonian–FIU’s outstanding holdings of European and American Art Deco, this highly illustrated talk will explore the origins of the style as a decorative expression of European luxury and its flourishing in the United States as a manifestation of machine age ambitions.

In this one-of-a-kind web-based program we'll see rich examples of the diverse range of objects by artists and designers in Europe and United states, who worked between World War I and World War II to develop a new style for a new age. Resnikoff will show how this experimentation created a diverse range of objects, spaces, and buildings that were united as much by spirit and approach as by formal qualities.

Even though this program is online, it will include a live PowerPoint––with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device––as well as a moderated Q&A session with participants.

Can't join us at the time of the live event? No problem! When you register for the live program you are guaranteed to receive a recording of the entire program a few days after the live presentation, which you can watch at a time most convenient for you.
