About the Program:

The Art Deco Society of New York’s series of web-based illustrated talks inspired by our Destination Deco travel program continues with this exciting virtual “visit” to explore the unique Art Deco style of Argentina with celebrated expert Fabio Grementieri.

In this live online presentation, Grementieri will illustrate how, despite its location at “the end of the world,” Argentine Heritage from the Interwar Period displays an eclectic collection of architecture and sites that emerged from a cultural melting pot. Together, we will discover how the many trends and materials of Argentine Deco flourished in houses, high-rise buildings, shops, movie theaters, banks, museums, libraries, schools, cemeteries, gas and power stations, bridges, and more.

Highlights of the web-based presentation will include the Kavanagh and Minetti Buildings, the Opera and Gran Rex movie theaters, in addition to the monumental work of Italo-Argentine architect Francisco Salamone in the Pampas.

Sign up today to see how borrowed ideas, images, and materials from around the world came together to shape a unique Argentine Art Deco style.

Even though this program is online, it will include a live PowerPoint––with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device––as well as a moderated Q&A session with participants.

Can't join us at the time of the live event? No problem! When you register for the live program you are guaranteed to receive a recording of the entire program a few days after the live presentation, which you can watch at a time most convenient for you.
