Art Deco Masterpieces of Rose Iron Works Video Event

About the Program:

Join the Art Deco Society of New York for a special virtual visit to explore the remarkable Art Deco history of Rose Iron Works with its third generation President, Bob Rose.

In this recorded video presentation––which you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home at a time that best fits your schedule––Bob leads us through the fascinating family history and celebrated accomplishments of Rose Iron Works, until recently one of the best kept secrets of the Art Deco era. In this event, you'll discover their magnificent Art Deco creations from the 1930s, which have long been the centerpieces of important Deco collections and exhibitions. This visually stunning program is your chance to get your own behind the scenes glimpse into Rose studio's noteworthy role in the design and production of famed decorative Deco metalwork.

As the grandson of Rose Iron Works founder, Bob has continued the family legacy into this century’s 20s. You won’t want to miss Bob's special presentation which also includes anecdotal gems related to the celebrated Art Deco pieces that were loaned to the recent blockbuster exhibition, The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s––including the iconic 1930 Muse with Violin Screen. In addition, Bob shares seldom seen drawings created by Paul Feher, Rose Iron Work’s resident artist in the 1930s. He also leads us on a tour of Rose Iron Work’s headquarters, which is in itself a museum displaying several hundred examples of the firm’s top-notch design. Bob also provides a preview of new Deco pieces, specifically the conversions of 1930's works.

This recorded video event includes the original PowerPoint––with wonderful images that you will be able to see directly on your computer screen, tablet, or mobile device

About the Speaker:

Bob Rose is the current and third family generation president of Rose Iron Works, the acclaimed leader in high end decorative and Deco metalwork. The Northeast Ohio blacksmith studio, founded in 1904 has played a significant role in the design and production of many key metalwork items. Bob calls upon a formal background in Mechanical Engineering combined with a lifetime of artistic involvement to direct the activity of both the decorative work and that of Rose Metal Industries, a leading job shop and contract manufacturer of industrial and military items. It is one of Bob’s passions to teach about his family’s contribution to design and craftsmanship during the Deco heyday.
