As a noted expert on Art Deco radios with one of the leading radio collections in the world, Peter Sheridan shares his expertise and passion with us as he reveals the untold and extraordinary contributions of famous 1930s industrial designers to the development of the table-top radio and the subsequent world-wide spread of the Art Deco style.
In this recorded video presentation—which you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home at a time that best fits your schedule—Sheridan beautifully illustrates the major influence Deco and Streamlining had on the evolution of radio design through the 1930s and 1940s. About the Speaker:
Peter Sheridan is an internationally renowned collector and speaker on Art Deco as well as a committee member of the Art Deco & Modernism Society of Australia and an accredited professional photographer. Sheridan has authored three major photographic reference books on design and architecture: Radio Days (2008), Deco Radio (2014), and Sydney Art Deco (2019).
Beyond his Art Deco-related interests, Sheridan is a senior Sydney dentist, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Clinical Senior Lecturer at Sydney University, and a world expert on Clinical Photography. He also works in Cambodia assisting in dental treatment of children and educating dentists. In 2001 Peter was awarded an order of Australia (AM) by the Australian Government for his work with people with Multiple Sclerosis.
