Program 2Mumbai: Art Deco Jewel of India

This spectacular online presentation, with Atul Kumar, founder and trustee of Art Deco Mumbai Trust, dives into Mumbai's abundance of Art Deco treasures to explore how the city boasts the world's second-largest collection of Deco buildings.

In this recorded video event, Atul shows us how Mumbai, formerly Bombay, developed its unique Art Deco vernacular in the early 1930s as India was marching toward becoming an independent nation. In addition, Atul highlights how the region continued to utilize the style until the mid-1950s.

Through beautiful images, we see how the Deco era was a significant moment in India's history. You will be delighted to discover how the many ideas of what it meant to be Indian in the modernizing world, were explored and expressed through architecture in the form of relief work, design features, and building elements.

Program 4–New York's Art Deco Architecture

This recorded video presentation focuses on a topic near and dear to ADSNY, New York City's Art Deco masterpieces!

In this enthralling, in-depth presentation, acclaimed author and architectural expert, Anthony W. Robins, explores how New York's Art Deco style evolved through a series of iconic Manhattan skyscrapers to become the city’s chief architectural language.
